  Reading Is Fundamental

This next auction is for all you book lovers out there. If you appreciate fine literature then you'll certainly love this collection of stories which includes approximately 100 selections on about 360 pages and was selected and arranged by Frances Jenkins Olcott. Just a few of the titles are "The Ant & the Cricket", "The Leak in the Dike", "The Pied Piper of Hamelin", "Apple-Seed John" and "The Owl and the Pussycat". H. W. Longfellow, Alfred Tennyson, and Robert Browning are just a few of the authors. This book has a copyright date of 1913. It was published by the Houghton Mifflin Co. in October 1913. The hard bound cover is in pretty good condition but some of the pages have frayed edges. The binding is good and all the pages are attached and readable. This next auction is for a collection of works edited by the great W.B. Yeats. The collection includes approx. 50 selections on about 350 pages. Just a few of the titles are "Paddy Corcoran's Wife", "The Brewery of Egg-shells" "The Banshee of the MacCarthys", "A Queen's County Witch" and "The Enchantment of Gearoidh Iarla". This collection of ancient Irish tales and short stories is uncommon and dates to the late 1800s. This book was dated by the publisher in Fall of 1923. It was published by Boni and Liveright in New York. The hard bound cover is in fair condition and has a plastic protector over a cover designed by Betsy Kelly. Most pages are in good condition but a couple have some frayed edges. All pages are attached and readable. The current bid for this book is only $4 with 9 days left to bid. Click here to register.
