Butler Flats Lighthouse: Be the Proud Owner of a Piece of Maritime History!

The auction is for the Butler Flats Lighthouse, located in the New Bedford Channel at the mouth of the Acushnet River in Bristol County, Massachusetts. Capable of being reached only by boat, this lighthouse was originally designed by Francis Hopkinson Smith and constructed in 1898. It consists of a 53 foot high brick and cast iron sparkplug-style tower that sits upon a caisson foundation. Once inside, you’ll find four level sand two watch decks, as well as a basement and three floors of living space (1091 square feet of living space in total) that are approximately 37 feet in diameter with a 15 foot head clearance. You probably don’t know this, but this famous lighthouse is even listed in the National Register of Historic Places!
