Questions & Answers
Buying drones at government auctions
Why does the government auction drones?
Agencies sell drones that were seized in law-enforcement or customs actions, left unclaimed, or declared surplus. The government has no profit motive beyond recovering value — which is why prices are often below market.
Are drones cheaper at government auctions?
Frequently, yes. Because seized and surplus goods cost the government little or nothing, they're sold to clear inventory. Final prices depend on condition and competition — but bargains are common.
How do I bid?
Each listing shows the auction dates and whether it's live or online. Members see the exact location, contacts and sale links, and bid directly with the government agency conducting the sale — no middleman.
